Training with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Teams

Last week the participants from different departments of IMM had a 3-day training on (Urban Vehicle Access Regulations) UVAR and LEZ (Low Emission Zones). The first day was guided by the Prof. Dr. Renan Funda Barbaros Özay (Ege University) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Menevis Uzbay Pirili (Yasar University). During this day, the participants learnt about the importance of caring for nature, understanding the link between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing climate change, leveraging clean energy in Türkiye, and adopting practical eco-friendly practices like reducing carbon footprints. The second day, led by the expert Lucy Sadler (Sadler Consultants) presented the rationale for adopting low or zero emission vehicles, highlighted various European UVAR regulations, outlined the necessary steps to implement a LEZ in Izmir and explained the role of such regulations in achieving climate neutrality.
