Why is it important?
Its strategic commercial location makes Izmir one of the most successful and lucrative cities in Turkiye. However, this advantage also brings with it different transportation-related problems throughout the city and in the functional urban area.

The transportation sector is the second largest source of emissions in the city with a share of 23.1% of the total emission volume.
